Funny Onion

UK / 4 mins

Funny Onion is a two-channel reflexive self-portrait about the disparate connections that make up our everyday experience. I devised characters and a visual narrative from dramatic embellishments of either real-life events or exaggerated personality traits of my friends (I do not appear). These performative embellishments were not reconstructions, but rather fictions that attempted to visualise a closer truth about a personality or situation. By highlighting and exploring my own absence, my place within this fragile social construction slowly emerges.
